As a non-profit organization, Deaf Austin Theatre’s purpose is to enrich, inspire, educate, create and entertain the Austin community by using American Sign Language (ASL) within all of our theatrical productions that range from classics to new works. We strive to impact our community, our audience members, and to create an accessible stage for all future artists.

Deaf Austin Theatre is committed to anti-racism work and fighting against the systemic racism within our country and industry. We strive to maintain a safe, inclusive, equitable home for Deaf artists of all races, ethnicities and backgrounds where everyone is seen and all voices are heard.
We acknowledge that this work is an on-going process. Our commitment includes these steps:
- Diversifying our board of directors to build a more diverse leadership team.
- Listening, acknowledging, learning, and talking about the important and difficult discussions regarding racism and anti-racism work.
- Developing opportunities for more representation and spotlight on Black, Indigenous, People of Color within the Deaf community.
- Ensuring that every production is inclusive and equitable for all Deaf artists.
