DAT 1st Fridays

Deaf Austin Theatre is proud to release our DAT 1st Fridays series, a monthly variety show held virtually on the first Friday of every month. As a part of our Intersectional Voices series, several months throughout the year will feature Deaf artists from underrepresented and/or marginalized populations. During these months, 50% of ticket sales will be donated to an organization that supports that population.

JANUARY: Femme Fatale

DAT 1st Fridays is a monthly event, held virtually on the first Friday of the month, showcasing Deaf artists.

In January, we celebrate the divine woman! Join us for a showcase of some amazingly talented Deaf women! As a part of our Intersectional Voices series, DAT welcomes Deaf artists that include the identity of woman as a part of their intersections. 50% of the proceeds for this event will be donated to DEAF Share.

FEBRUARY: DAT After Dark

DAT 1st Fridays is a monthly event, held virtually on the first Friday of the month, showcasing Deaf artists.

In February, DAT will turn down the lights as we bring out the adult performances like burlesque, adult skits, and adult comedy. Be sure the kids are in bed!

MARCH: Deaf Voices of MENA

DAT 1st Fridays is a monthly event, held virtually on the first Friday of the month, showcasing Deaf artists.

In March, DAT will showcase a celebration of Deaf artists from the Middle East/ North Africa. As a part of our Intersectional Voices series, DAT welcomes Deaf artists that include middle eastern/North African as a part of their intersections. 50% of the proceeds from this event will be donated to a Middle Eastern Deaf organization.

APRIL: Black Deaf Voices

DAT 1st Fridays is a monthly event, held virtually on the first Friday of the month, showcasing Deaf artists.

In April, DAT will showcase a celebration of Black Deaf artists. As a part of our Intersectional Voices series, DAT welcomes Deaf artists that include Black or African-American as a part of their intersections. 50% of the proceeds from this event will be donated to a Black Deaf organization.

MAY: DAT Short Play Festival

DAT 1st Fridays is a monthly event, held virtually on the first Friday of the month, showcasing Deaf artists.

In May, DAT will premier 6 new plays written by Deaf playwrights and directed by Deaf artists.

JUNE: Deaf Queer Voices

DAT 1st Fridays is a monthly event, held virtually on the first Friday of the month, showcasing Deaf artists.

In celebration of Gay Pride, DAT will be hosting a virtual showcase on the first Friday of June that will highlight Deaf Queer performers. As a part of our Intersectional Voices series, DAT welcomes Deaf artists that include any aspect of LGBTQ+ as a part of their intersections. 50% of the proceeds from this event will be donated to the Mervin P. O'Bryant Foundation.

JULY: Deaf AAPI Voices

DAT 1st Fridays is a monthly event, held virtually on the first Friday of the month, showcasing Deaf artists.

In July, DAT will open the floor to amazing Deaf Asian American and Pacific Islander artists to perform. As a part of our Intersectional Voices series, DAT welcomes Deaf artists that include any combination of Asian, Asian-American and Pacific Islander as a part of their intersections. 50% of the proceeds from tonights event will be donated to a AAPI/ Deaf AAPI organization.

AUGUST: Deaf Latine/A/O/X Voices

In August, DAT will showcase a celebration of Deaf Latine artists. As a part of our Intersectional Voices series, DAT welcomes Deaf artists that include any form of latine/a/o/x as a part of their intersections. 50% of the proceeds from this event will be donated to a Latine Deaf organization.
